The start of solids….

Brecken had his first taste of solids last Thursday. To say that he loved it would be a lie. To say that he hated it would be an understatement. Nonetheless, we jumped right back into it on Friday and he is slowly beginning to get used to the weird stick thing getting stuck into his mouth and the gooey wet stuff on the back of his throat. Eric and I both tried the rice cereal after one of his many gagging attacks on his first night of solids to see if we really were torturing him. While neither of us would want to sit down and eat a bowl of it, it’s not like it had a bad taste. Bland, but not yucky. After church this morning, Eric and B watched football while I made baby food. It’s actually quite easy, cheaper than buying pre-made baby food, and kind of fun. My only guilt factor is that I’m making all of these veggies that I’ll force Brecken to eat when I don’t even eat them myself. I made carrots, butternut squash and sweet potatoes today…. Next weekend I’ll work on peas, green beans, and pumpkin! I’m also excited to start on the fruit as it will smell better than the veggies!!
Here it comes….
Feeling it on the tongue….

Oh yuck! What is that??

GAG!

Hoping to never eat cereal again…
Mommy & Daddy not listening to my requests….

More being dramatic…

Scolding us with his eyes 🙁

Finally, we got a small smile out of him. He still loves us despite the cereal!!

Not sure what to think….
Such a full tummy….. Ech.

Those pretty blue eyes…

Sitting up like a big boy…. And falling over like a little boy who is trying to be a big boy 🙂

Lovin’ the jumperoo…

Brecken will go back to the doctor this week to get his 4-month vaccines that he was unable to get at his check-up. We will also be scheduling a blood test for the first week in November to try and figure out this allergy thing that the doctor thinks he may have. I’m not exactly sure how the process goes of drawing blood from a 4 month old but I am sure that Brecken won’t be the only one in tears – I get weepy just thinking about having to watch!

  1. Glad to see he’s getting to start in on cereal! Anna’s all over it now! She had bananas and cereal again this morning for breakfast! It’s fun once you really get into it! Anna was VERY dramatic with her butternut squash, gagging and actually puking it back at us…very lady like. But last night she had some and did just fine…who knows! He’s getting so big! We’ll have to plan another play date and they can actually have dinner together! 🙂

  2. Good for you on making his food! I made all of Hailey’s because I could not even stand the smell of jarred food and she loved it. Much cheaper too. Let me know if you have any questions while you’re doing it.
