It would be great to live close to lots of family but it works out that they don’t live all that far away. So of course some of Gretchen’s first visitors were grandparents.
Jerry and Betty drove up on Thursday in order to make sure they didn’t miss anything. They actually ended up getting there just in time to talk with April and I before. Then April started looking very uncomfortable and we had to send them out for the “push party.” After 1.5 pushes and 8 minutes, we were able to invite them back into the room to meet the newest edition to our family.
My parents were able to see Gretchen on her first day as well, even though they were very busying being on “Big” kid duty for the days we were in the hospital. Then, to make things even easier for us, they offered to take Brecken and Madiana down to Iowa for the weekend so we could be at home with Gretchen for our first night home. This was an extra nice treat, as Gretchen will probably not experience a night with JUST Mommy and Daddy for her foreseeable future.
Gretchen has already heard stories about her Grandma Gott. She will grow up knowing how much her grandma loves her…
Later in the evening Roger and Jenny stopped by to visit. However, we were only able to get a picture of Gretchen with cousin Jenny.
What an exciting time in the hospital and now we are at home where the fun will continue. Keep following along as we will be posting more stories and pictures.
