What a busy day the Walkers had. We decided we shouldn’t sleep in as there is just so much to do on July 4th, so we decided to try and pack as much as we could into one long day. I decided to ask the kids what their favorite part of the day was and I included the responses below.
“Getting candy from the parade” – Brecken
“Ummm… The candy and the FIREWORKS! (with lots of enthusiasm)” – Madiana
We started our day off at the Edina 4th of July Parade. However, in order to get a good spot we had to show up quite a bit earlier than the actual start, so that gave us plenty of time to play baseball at the park down the street before it started.
As you know the kids really enjoyed seeing everything in getting candy from the parade.
- Wait a second… It’s Batman!
- Eagerly waiting for candy
- Madiana liked waving at the “Princesses”
- Brecken and Julie waiting for more
- Not sure if James was that excited as the rest of the cousins.
Here was a great picture of James and Madiana
After the Parade we ran home for quick lunch and then went over to Roger and Jan’s to see more family. We decided to continue our baseball theme but added in hockey as well.
Finally after all of that, we came back home and decided it was time to head to Round Lake to watch the fireworks as we have for the last 4 years.
- Papa and Madiana walking to the Lake
- These two are ready for the Fireworks
- Brecken showing off his glow stick hat
- Lounging and watching the fireworks
- Madiana sitting with Grandma during the Fireworks
Daddy and Madiana
However, this year Brecken fell asleep half way though the fireworks which I have no idea how that happened. He didn’t even budge when the grand finale went off as well. I guess the day tired him out completely.
We did wake him up so I could pull him and Madiana in the wagon home. However, that had a different effect as then Brecken was still up and Madiana fell asleep.
Even though the day was full of various activities it was great to spend it with family and watch our kids have so much fun.
