This morning was pretty low key… The doggies and I practiced some Spanish, had “computer time”, caught up on our Tuesday shows, and read a book until the doctor appointment this afternoon. It is always exciting to have a little field trip and get out of the house and we’ve been anxious about this appointment because it included an ultrasound to see the little guy 🙂
We are happy to report that all went went with Junior’s appointment! He is weighing in at 3 lbs. 9 oz (to which I ask the doctor where the rest of MY excess weight is coming from if he’s only 3 lbs??? I expected him to clock in at atleast 18 pounds based on my calculations! HA!). He is still very, very low and since it’s seeming like he really hasn’t changed positions much since week 21 (or at least he’s been head down during each of my almost weekly check-ups since week 21), we were told that we could probably expect a cone-head. Oh goody! The good news is that they have the cutest little hats now adays and we already have one in the hospital bag! And his head should even out fairly soon once he’s born.
The doctor said that he looks to be a little ahead of schedule (which I couldn’t be happier about!), so the estimated due date based on today’s ultrasound is July 5th. YAY! The doctor said we wouldn’t change the official due date, but wanted to give us a heads up.
The most IMPORTANT and EXCITING part of the day is where I asked Dr. Nadeau to do a quick review of bed rest for me….. I’VE BEEN SLIGHTLY UPGRADED! I still can’t sit up more than 45 degrees for long periods of time (bummer), but I CAN WALK OUT TO THE COUCH! I was hoping to hear that I could sit up to scrapbook for hours on end, but no luck…. I’m not complaining though, I’ll take what I can get! He might as well have told me the New Kids on the Block were going to be waiting for me at my house, as excited as I was! I don’t think Eric has seen me this excited about anything for months!!! I can walk downstairs, out to the deck for some sun, I can even be on my feet a short amount of time to get something to eat or drink. I don’t know who was more excited about this, as Eric immediately shouted out in the doctor’s office “Yay, you can make your own lunches now!” Ha. Not that I can fix a meal by any means, but he said that I could get a bowl of cereal or toast and that would be okay. After all of the excitement and all of the “Yes, that would be fine” and “I would be comfortable with that,” I got carried away and asked about “outings.” He said, “Okay, now you’re pushing it!” and that was the end of my negotiations. He said we’d review the “outing” question at week 34, which I’m okay with. Obviously, I need to pay attention to my body/ contractions and if I notice a change in frequency or duration of contractions, I need to back up the activity again and will be back in bed. Because I’ve been having fewer contractions thanks to the new medication, he said that he didn’t think we needed to do another Fetal Fibronectrine test.
Looking into the future, I have a week off from the doctor and will go back at week 32 for a quick check. Providing everything looks okay (and goes okay the next few weeks), I will start weekly ultrasounds at week 34 to monitor Junior because of the Single Artery Umbilical situation. He looked absolutely fine today though, despite the single artery and he showed no signs of any chromosomal abnormalities at this time which is what they will continue checking for.
I have a movie date with my sister-in-law and her little lady (Julia is almost a month old already!) this afternoon, and then will be spending the weekend with several of the Gotts!!! My grandma is here in the Midwest from Arizona, my parents are coming up, and the Green Bay clan as well! Not sure where everyone will sleep, but I know it’ll be fun to see everyone 🙂
Not sure when I’ll post again, but if time gets away from me and I don’t talk to ya’ll until next week…. Have a great weekend!
